Four Organizations. One Mission.

The Together coalition brings together four Christian agencies (St. Marys United Methodist Church Foundation, Church World Service, ECHO and MAP International) to carry out a joint development program. Through an integrated development program in Northern Uganda, the coalition will mobilize active community participation where individuals, families and communities can take responsible action to improve their well-being. Community empowerment, holistic integrated development and spiritual growth are important dimensions of this joint venture. The goal of the program is to build community resilience in the region.

About the Together Coalition

We believe that development efforts have greater sustainable impact when organizations with complimentary vision, approach, skill sets, and capacity work together. In that spirit, our organizations have come together to pursue a unique collaboration to improve the lives of people living in the Kotido District of northeast Uganda.

Why Kotido?

Kotido District is at the epicenter of the Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda, the poorest and least developed region in the country. Only 28 percent of residents have access to safe water, 100 children younger than 5 die each week, and health indicators are beyond emergency levels. In a region rife with serious problems, Kotido is among the worst.

What We’re Doing

A cornerstone of the Together Coalition's philosophy is the belief that real change comes when a community is empowered to take responsible action to improve its own well-being. We will use each organization's core competencies to ensure that the Karamajong communities develop resilience to cope with their environment and improve health and development outcomes.
